The SBTi has approved BLP (Northern) Ltd’s near-term science-based emissions reduction target. BLP (Northern) Limited is committed to reducing its environmental impact by setting science-based targets (SBTs) aligned with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Scope 1 emissions include direct greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from sources such as fuel combustion, industrial processes, and equipment leaks, while Scope 2 emissions encompass indirect GHG emissions from the consumption of purchased electricity, heat, or steam.
To take a comprehensive approach to emissions reduction, BLP (Northern) Limited commits to reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 46% by 2030 from a 2019 base year. This commitment ensures that the company’s sustainability strategy aligns with the latest climate science and contributes meaningfully to global efforts to mitigate climate change.
In addition to reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions, BLP (Northern) Limited recognises the importance of addressing Scope 3 emissions, which include indirect emissions from sources such as supply chain activities, business travel, and product use.
The company is actively working towards measuring and reducing its Scope 3 emissions, with a completion target set for 2027.
By expanding its emissions reduction strategy to include all three scopes, BLP (Northern) Limited demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices, reinforcing its role in the transition to a low-carbon economy.
